Nichols Lake

Nichols Lake Campground provides an excellent opportunity for fishing, swimming, hiking or just relaxing.  The North Country National Scenic Trail goes through the site near the boat ramp, providing good hiking opportunities.  Fishing from the pier on the swimming beach will often yield walleye, bass, pike, perch or panfish.

LOCATION

Nichols Lake Campground is located in Newaygo County, Michigan. The nearest community is Brohman, 2 miles south.

ACCESS

Nichols Lake is on 11 Mile Road, Approximately 4.5 miles west of Highway M-37. 11 Mile Road is 7.5 miles south of the Newaygo/Lake County line and 2 miles north of Brohman. The sign on Highway M-37 says "11 Mile Road - Woodland Park".

  • 28 Paved camping spurs

  • 1 Flush toilet

  • Wood ramp system from campground to beach and pier

  • Paved boat ramp

SEASON

Nichols Lake Campground is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. There are no reservations taken (occupancy is on a first come, first serve basis).  Please contact the Baldwin Ranger Station regarding dates outside the normal season at (231) 745-4631.

FEES

Please contact the Ranger Station in Baldwin for up-to-date campground information and current fees. Each site accommodates as many as 8 people and 2 vehicles.  There are two sites set up for two families at one time.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • Care should be taken to keep the area clean and in the condition it was found, so visitors are asked to please pack out what they pack in.
