Little Muskegon River
| The Little Muskegon River is
well-known for its canoeing and fishing. Small-mouth bass, walleye and perch are
just some of the plentiful fish found in the river. Canoeing is another popular
pastime enjoyed by river users. A float down the Little Muskegon offers excellent
opportunities for viewing wildlife. The river corridor is frequented by deer and a
wide variety of songbirds. Mixed oak, pine and aspen provide a restful view along
the area surrounding the Little Muskegon River. LOCATION The headwaters of the Little Muskegon River are in Mecosta County, Michigan. From this point, the river begins it's southwest flow to its junction with Croton Pon the the Muskegon River. ACCESS Reynolds Township: Take Jefferson Road exit off US-131, then travel east about 1 mile to 190th Street. Turn south on 19th Street and go 3 miles to North County Line Road, then west 1/2 mile to Henkel, and then south on Henkel approximately 3/4 miles to Cutler. Turn west on Cutler and go 3/4 mile to the intersection, then north 3 miles to the access road on the left through the pine plantation. FACILITIES AVAILABLE
SEASON The managed season is from May 1 to October 1. FEES There are no fees or permits required for the use of the Little Muskegon River area. CONSIDERATIONS
