Indian Lake

Indian Lake offers a unique, primitive camping experience. The area offers many recreation opportunities, such as fishing, hiking or boating. Indian Lake is not entirely surrounded by National Forest Land. It has a beautiful sandy bottom and clear water. The lake is noted for its great bass fishing opportunities and is excellent for canoeing.

LOCATION

Diamond Point is located in Newaygo County, Michigan. The nearest community is Brohman, about 2 miles northeast, and White Cloud, about 12 miles south.

ACCESS

From White Cloud, go north on M-37 about 10 miles, then turn west on Pierce Rd. and travel across the railroad tracks. Turn south, then follow the road until it comes to a "y". Follow the fork to the left and continue on to the lake.

From Brohman, go south on M-37 for about 1 mile, then turn west on Pierce Road and follow the directions above.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

Gravel parking area and boat launch.

SEASON

The managed season is from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. However, camping is allowed year-around.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • To avoid resource damage, camping is allowed at numbered sites only. Camping at this site is limited to 14 consecutive days. Water is not provided and there are no garbage facilities.

  • The access road into Indian Lake is unimproved and not recommended for long or low clearance vehicles.

  • There is a primitive, carry-in boat launch not suitable for large boats.

  • NOTICE:  Pending regulations may prohibit gas combustion engines on the lake.

  • Care should be taken to keep the area clean and in the condition it was found, so visitors are asked to please pack out what they pack in.
