Benton Lake

Benton Lake is a 33-acre lake completely surrounded by National Forest land.  The campground provides an excellent opportunity for enjoyment of the woods and water.  A trailhead for the North Country National Scenic Trail is located off Pierce Drive, about 2 miles east of the campground entrance road.

LOCATION

Benton Lake is located in Newaygo County, Michigan. The nearest community is Brohman, about 4 miles east.

ACCESS

From Highway M-37 in Brohman, turn west on Pierce Drive (Forest Road 5308) and go approximately 4.5 miles, on the gravel road, to the paved entrance drive.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

  • 24 camping sites

  • Sites 1-12 have accessible tables, fire rings and cook stoves

  • Access road and spurs are paved

  • Toilets and drinking water available

SEASON

Benton Lake is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.

FEES

Please contact the Ranger Station in Baldwin for up-to-date campground information and current fees.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • Care should be taken to keep the area clean and in the condition it was found, so visitors are asked to please pack out what they pack in.

  • An accessible fishing pier is located next to the beach in the picnic area.

  • There is a small picnic shelter by the beach for use during inclement weather.
